Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has alleged that certain individuals are exploiting insecurity in the country for personal gain.
Speaking during a visit to Baringo County, Murkomen said these individuals are manipulating volatile situations to advance their own selfish interests, thereby undermining efforts to restore peace and stability.
“Insecurity is enriching those who want to punish the poor in marginalized areas. This is the case in counties like Samburu, Baringo, West Pokot, Isiolo, Turkana, and Marsabit,” he said.
Murkomen strongly condemned those who take advantage of vulnerable communities to further their agendas.
“We are being unfair. Some of us are educated and employed, yet we spend time hurting other people’s children. While our children are in boarding schools or international systems, we exploit children from families who have nothing. This should prick our consciences,” he stated.
The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the government will not stand by while influential individuals promote criminal activities.
“There are politicians who incite the public. I will not excuse anyone—whether they are politicians or not. If someone incites Kenyans and it leads to the loss of lives, they will be treated just like any other criminal,” he affirmed.
