Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki Mwinyihaji has been expelled from Mombasa Sports Club.
Faki along with three others (Athman Mohamed Abdulrahim, Hassan Swaleh Hemed, and Khamis Takdir Khamis) were kicked out of the club following a decision made during the Club’s Annual General Meeting that was held on Tuesday 25th March 2025.
According to the club’s Management Committee, the expulsion was driven by repeated violations of the club’s regulations.
The Senator was also accused of fostering sectarianism among members.
“The rules of the club must be adhered to regardless of status or position in society,” said outgoing MSC Chair Michael Sangoro.
Members also expressed frustrations over what they term as Faki’s frequent frivolous and disruptive lawsuits against the club.

“A resolution to Expel from the Club the following members under Rule 47 (a), (b) and (c) of the Club Constitution engaging in behaviour and conduct prejudicial to the interests of the club and its members of repeatedly breaching the Club Rule 56 by filing several cases to frustrate the Management Committee and Club operations in the past three years,” read agenda number 10 of the Club’s AGM held on Tuesday.
Prior to the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), the senator had secured a court order preventing any action against him. However, club members successfully petitioned the High Court of Kenya, which ruled in their favor, allowing the AGM to proceed as planned.
During the meeting, members voted overwhelmingly to remove him and the three others.
With 180 members against 35 voting to expel the four, the fate of the Senator at the club was sealed.
The senator is yet to issue a public statement regarding his expulsion from the club.
