Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki Mwinyihaji has defended himself following his expulsion from Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) over allegations of frustrating the club’s management and members through frequent lawsuits..
Replying to Baraka FM, the senator refuted claims that he was acting against the club’s interests, stating that he was merely representing his clients, who are also club members.
“As a lawyer and advocate, I provide legal services to my clients. In this case, Muslim members of the club approached my office, raising concerns about a Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled for March 11, 2025, at 7:00 PM,” said Senator Faki.
He argued that the timing of the proposed meeting was inappropriate, as it coincided with the holy month of Ramadhan when Muslim members would be breaking their fast and attending evening prayers.

“The immediate former club chairman, who has exhibited anti-Muslim sentiments, insisted on proceeding with the meeting. As a result, my legal office was instructed to seek a court injunction to stop it. The court granted the injunction, effectively halting the meeting on March 11. That was my so-called crime,” Faki stated.
The senator, along with three other members, was expelled from the club during MSC’s Annual General Meeting on March 25, 2025.
According to the club’s management, the four individuals engaged in behavior detrimental to the club’s interests and repeatedly violated Club Rule 56 by filing multiple lawsuits over the past three years, allegedly disrupting club operations.
“In 2023, the club’s Annual General Meeting was halted after members went to court, arguing that it was scheduled for a Saturday afternoon, which conflicted with Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) members’ religious observances. However, when it comes to Muslim members in a predominantly Muslim city, their concerns are disregarded,” said Senator Faki.
“As a Lawyer, I represent my clients, and that cannot be taken against me personally,” he added.
