FKF to investigate keeper Patrick Matasi’s match fixing allegations

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is investigating Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi over claims of match-fixing.

In a statement, FKF said it had launched investigations into the match-fixing allegations following an online video that captured Matasi allegedly fixing a match.

“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is aware of videos circulating online involving goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, raising concerns about possible match manipulation,” read the statement.

The viral video shows the Harambee Stars goalkeeper discussing with an unknown person how to fix a certain game that is yet to be confirmed.

“FKF upholds the integrity of football and has launched an official investigation in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities. We reaffirm our zero-tolerance policy on match manipulation and are committed to safeguarding the credibility of our competitions,” said FKF.

FKF has urged anyone with credible information to assist with the investigation, saying all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.

“This investigation will adhere to FKF’s Anti-Match Manipulation Regulations and FIFA guidelines, ensuring a fair, transparent, and thorough process. The rights of the player and his club will be respected, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings,” said the Federation.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz Chairman Cleophas Shimanyulla has defended Matasi, stating that he will remain in his team until proven guilty.
