Kwale elders urged to promote traditional climate change solutions

Wahapahapa Waste Management, an environmental lobby group in Kwale County, is calling on local elders to lead an awareness campaign on traditional methods of addressing climate change.

The organization’s Executive Director, Nsema Hoka, stated that the initiative would help the community understand and revive indigenous techniques for combating environmental challenges.

“Our elders should educate locals on how traditional practices can help the community adapt to climate change,” Nsema said.

She further noted that weather patterns have changed significantly and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in environmental conservation.

“We are witnessing a shift in weather systems. All stakeholders must come together to mitigate the impacts of climate change,” she noted.

“This will help prevent the spread of diseases in the area,” Nsema added.
