Address unemployment in Kwale county – Gov’t told

A section of human rights defenders in Kwale County is calling on the government to address the rising unemployment crisis in the area.

Lobbyists from Tulinde Future Yetu, a locally based organization, have linked the high unemployment rate to the increasing cases of insecurity in the region.

Tulinde Future Yetu Executive Director, Salim Chidzuga, urged both the national government and human rights organizations to collaborate in tackling the issue.

“Unemployment is a serious problem. It has contributed to insecurity in our area, and something must be done,” Chidzuga said.

He also called on the government to empower youth by providing them with loans.

“The issue of insecurity can only be addressed if both the county and national governments support young people by offering them financial assistance,” he added.

Meanwhile, Salim Gamtoni urged parents to take an active role in ensuring their children’s well-being.

“Parents play a crucial role in shaping their children’s future. It is important to fulfill your responsibilities as a parent,” he emphasized.
