President William Ruto does not use public money to support churches.
Deputy government spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga said President Ruto donates millions of shillings from the proceeds of his businesses.
Speaking during an interview at Baraka FM, she said it is well known that Ruto is a successful businessman therefore nobody should question the sources of the money he gives out on Sundays to churches he is invited to.
She defended Ruto as a philanthropist who likes sharing his blessings with Kenyans from the abundance of his heart.
“Unless he was using public money, we don’t need to question why he gives to churches. Is giving to churches a bad thing?” she posed.
She also challenged Kenyans to follow in the footsteps of the president by helping Kenyans in need.
“Some people have just decided to politicize this issue of offering. We are forgetting that even former presidents used to give millions to church and it didn’t raise any issue”, she stated.
In the past two Sundays, President Ruto has issued sh.40 million to two churches sparking debate among Kenyans.
In his speech while at Eldoret where he donated sh.20 million, Ruto vowed to continue donating millions to churches insisting as a Christian he gives to God.
” Due to President Ruto’s personal relationship with his God, he has been blessed to a point of donating sh 20 million shilling or more. Its not wrong for him to give”, added Chidzuga.
