Enhancing Tech & Innovation in Kilifi County

Kilifi County Government plans to leverage technology to ensure seamless access to services in the county.

Speaking in Kilifi during a meeting with key stakeholders in the ICT sector, Governor Gideon Mung’aro said there were plans to enhance collaboration in technology and innovation programs across Kilifi County.

In the meeting led by Ola Ahlvarsson, a Swedish entrepreneur, Mung’aro said said several teams had shown keen interest in investing in Kilifi.

“Technology is a key pillar in our service delivery agenda, and my administration remains committed to increasing digital literacy, improving efficiency, and promoting accountability through tech solutions,” said Mung’aro.

To boost digital service delivery, county teams have been on the ground sensitizing the public on revenue collection through the county e-Service portal, a platform that enables residents to conveniently pay for licenses, land rates, business permits, and other county services.

“To empower our youth, we’ve partnered with Power Learn Project, where 500+ young people have already been equipped with software development skills. Registration for the second cohort is currently ongoing as we push to create more opportunities for our youth in the digital economy,” said the Kilifi Governor.

“Our goal is to leverage technology to ensure seamless access to services, including healthcare, from anywhere in Kilifi, eliminating bureaucratic processes and enhancing service delivery,” he added.

The meeting came as a follow-up to the conversations and commitments made during the Kilifi County International Investment Conference where over 1000 participants and investors came together to explore investment opportunities in Kilifi County.

“Together with these ICT experts, tech entrepreneurs, and investors, we will co-create solutions that will position Kilifi as a tech-driven county,” said Mung’aro.
