Ferry users at the Likoni crossing channel have expressed frustration over persistent delays and poor services, making their daily commute to town both exhausting and stressful.
Residents living on the mainland say they have endured years of inefficiencies at the Likoni Ferry, which continues to hinder smooth transportation.
Speaking to Baraka FM, Abdhallah Ali Opiyo accused the Kenya ferry management of bias on service delivery.
“Officers at Likoni Ferry prioritize vehicles over pedestrians, leaving those crossing on foot to wait for long periods,” Opiyo said.
He added that delays at the ferry disrupt pedestrians’ daily routines, making it difficult for them to report to work on time. Opiyo urged authorities to address the issue and ensure smoother mobility for commuters.
However, another commuter, Hussein Kadi, urged the public to remain patient while seeking ferry services.
Kadi emphasized the importance of cooperation between commuters and ferry officers to prevent unnecessary chaos that could further disrupt operations.
Following the chaos that erupted at the ferry channel on Wednesday, locals have demanded that officers involved in the altercation be dismissed and held accountable under the law.
