Safaricom (NSE: SCOM), through its youth-focused platform Safaricom Hook Circle, hosted a two-day masterclass at Ol’Lessos National Polytechnic in Eldoret, reaching more than 600 young participants.
The event, known as the Hook Circle Rift Valley Edition, was part of Safaricom’s ongoing commitment to empowering Kenyan youth through technology and innovation. It provided hands-on training and mentorship in key areas including technology, career development, and cultural expression.
“We are creating spaces where youth can explore their passions, sharpen their skills, and connect with real opportunities,” said Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer.
“Safaricom Hook Circle is more than just a bootcamp, it’s a platform for empowerment, inclusion, and innovation. By focusing on disciplines such as engineering and technology, we are helping shape a generation ready to build and lead Kenya’s future,” she added.
The event was held in partnership with Google Africa and the Safaricom Technology Team (Networks & Engineering Community), who facilitated sessions on mentorship, technical demonstrations, and practical skill-building. The Safaricom Care Team was also present to offer support and answer questions about the Safaricom Hook initiative.
Participants received certification in Building & Civil Engineering and ICT, equipping them with industry-relevant skills for both the job market and continued education.
Launched in 2023, Safaricom Hook Circle is a nationwide program aimed at connecting young people—aged 10 to 24—with growth opportunities in tech, entrepreneurship, and culture. So far, it has reached over one million youth across counties such as Meru, Mombasa, Nairobi, and Nyeri. The initiative continues to expand with plans to cover all 47 counties.
