The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has raised concerns over the rising cost of living, warning that the country is currently grappling with a significant economic shock.
ICPAK CEO, CPA Dr. Grace Kamau, said the surging cost of living is taking a toll on households and the broader economy, with unemployment emerging as a widespread challenge.
“You must offer solutions to the public as custodians of public finances. You are the architects of economic resilience,” Dr. Kamau told accountants.
Echoing her sentiments, ICPAK Chairperson CPA Phillip Kakai emphasized the need for greater transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

“You are the guardians of public trust and play a vital role in transforming Kenya’s economy,” CPA Kakai said.
He also urged accounting professionals in both the public and private sectors to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
“Let’s make this institution stronger. Let’s go beyond the accounting profession,” he added, calling for a more proactive role in shaping national economic discourse.
The Institute continues to position itself as a key player in promoting sound financial practices and driving sustainable economic growth across the country.
