Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made it clear that star striker Alexander Isak is not for sale and remains a key part of his plans for next season.
“He’s not for sale from my perspective. I want to build a squad, I want the strongest squad possible for next season,” Howe stated.
Isak has enjoyed an impressive spell with the Magpies, gaining recognition for his performances. He has been linked with several top European clubs after a standout season in which he currently ranks second on the Premier League top scorers list with 22 goals, just six behind Mohamed Salah.
Howe also expressed confidence that Newcastle can strengthen their squad during the upcoming transfer window without needing to offload players.
“There’s a lot to look forward to, hopefully. The end of the season is going to be crucial for us,” he said. “We have a strong squad, and if we can add some players—something we haven’t been able to do for a few windows—it will make a massive difference. That’s what I’m focused on, not selling players.”
The Newcastle boss believes the club is now in a better position to make significant signings, unlike in previous seasons when they were forced to sell in order to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
“They’ll look to take advantage of other clubs, as clubs did to us last year—and quite rightly so,” Howe noted.
