Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has officially inaugurated the Independent Investigative Committee on Tissue and Organ Transplant Services at Afya House, Nairobi.
The committee, chaired by Prof. Elizabeth Bukusi, was constituted in response to mounting public concern following allegations of malpractice and ethical breaches involving organ transplant procedures at Mediheal Group of Hospitals.
“This is a moment of reckoning,” stated Duale during the inauguration. “We are not merely conducting an investigation; we are working to restore public confidence in the health system. Impunity will not be tolerated, and wrongdoing will not be shielded.”
He called on the committee to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, professionalism, and discretion throughout the investigation.
Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, urged the committee to approach its task with impartiality and rigor and to produce findings that will contribute to improved clinical governance across all health facilities in the country.
Reiterating the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting the committee’s work, CS Duale emphasized the need for a thorough and timely report, which is expected to be submitted by July 22, 2025.
“We will respond with decisive and transparent action, always prioritizing the well-being of the Kenyan people,” he affirmed.
