MOMBASA: The County Government of Mombasa has reiterated its commitment to promoting and supporting business within the county.
Speaking in Nyali during the opening of Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB Bank) Kenya Branch, Mombasa County Executive Committee Member in charge of Trade and Tourism, Mohamed Osman, said the county government has implemented measures to ensure business growth and sustainability.
“We are ready to work with all business stakeholders. We have strategies in place to ensure that business thrives,” he noted.
Osman emphasized that the county will continue creating a conducive environment to attract investors.
He also noted that the county has made significant strides in improving the ease of doing business, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
“As a county department, we host round-table discussions where we bring in investors. We continue to encourage and support small and medium businesses,” he said.
Osman further said the Sharia-compliant bank aligns well with the county’s agenda of scaling up business operations and investment opportunities.
On her part, DIB Acting Chief Executive Officer Mary Kanuku said the bank is leveraging digital solutions and technology to meet the evolving needs of its clients.
“We have increased our visibility in response to our customers’ needs. We are delivering the same top-notch solutions through our digital platforms and our branch network,” she said.
Kanuku highlighted the bank’s expansion into various parts of the country and reported that DIB posted a profit of sh.103 million in 2024, a business growth of 140 percent.
“We thank the local community in this area for requesting us to open a branch here. We are committed to working together to ensure business thrives,” she added.
