A section of religious leaders in Mombasa County now wants the elected leaders to fulfill their pledges to Kenyans.
Led by Pwani Patriotic Religious Leaders (PPRL) Sheikh Abu Qatada, the leaders said it is the role of all the elected leaders to act responsibly.
“Our leaders should come out and implement all the pledges they gave Kenyans. That is a gift from Allah, and you will account for your deeds,” Qatada noted.
He also called on the leaders to remain at the forefront in championing for the rights of the electorates.
On the issue of the differences in marking Eid, Abu Qatada said the differences are due to ideological differences amongst renowned Muslim scholars.
He, however, noted that the differences should not be used to divide Muslims
“It has been in existence since time immemorial,” he said.
