Football fan’s car stolen outside Nyayo Stadium during Kenya-Gabon match

A football fan is counting losses after his vehicle was stolen while he watched the World Cup Qualifiers showdown between Kenya’s Harambee Stars and Gabon’s national team at Nyayo Stadium.

The victim, who reported the incident at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, said he had parked his silver Toyota IST, registration number KBN 093B, along Kisauni Road behind Nairobi West Hospital at 3:40 PM before heading into the packed stadium.

Unfortunately, after witnessing Kenya’s 2-1 defeat to the Aubameyang-led Gabonese side, he returned a few minutes past 7:00 PM, only to find his car missing.

“Having provided sufficient proof of ownership of the vehicle to the police, the car has been circulated as stolen, with DCI Langata leading the investigation,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Meanwhile, police in Juja are investigating another case of vehicle theft involving a white Toyota Axio, registration number KCR 628U.

The car owner had parked it outside a residential home in Matangi area, near Rurii Primary School, Kimbo, on Saturday night. However, upon waking up the next morning, the vehicle was nowhere to be found.

“Have you seen these cars? Please report to any police station or call the National Police Service hotlines 999, 911, 112 or 0800722203,” said the DCI.

Investigations are ongoing, and police are working to recover the stolen vehicles and apprehend the culprits.
