Ex-Egyptian footballer defends Mo Salah over Carragher remarks

Egyptian legend and two-time African Cup champion Ahmed Almohamady hit back at Jamie Carragher for his disparaging remarks against Egyptian International Mohammed Salah.

Carragher claimed the Liverpool winger could face difficulty in winning individual awards since  Egypt doesn’t play in major tournaments.

Almohamady used his X account to defend his former national teammate stating that the former England defender knew nothing about major tournaments because he has no silverware for his national team.

He praised Salah saying unlike Cararagher, he has two medals from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Carragher who played his entire career at Liverpool, on Sunday claimed that the inform Liverpool winger can not win the Ballon d’Or this season despite his huge contribution in the Liverpool shirt for the title fight and Champions League.

“I think the problem is the fact he’s with Egypt, and he’s probably not playing in the major tournament as such, or maybe got a great chance of winning.” Said Cara on Sunday.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has also criticized Jamie Carragher for showing disrespect for the biggest competition in Africa.
