Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir has defended President William Ruto against critics who criticize him for his knowledge of the country’s infrastructure.
Speaking in Kilifi County while attending the funeral of Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi’s father, Governor Abdullswamad said it was the president’s responsibility to know the country’s infrastructure.
This is after Kenyans online mocked the President’s mastery of the route for the 750 km Isiolo-Mandera road set for construction.
“On our way here, some of the leaders would ask me where we are, but I told them the only person that would know the name of the road we are on is President William Ruto,” said Abdullswamad.
Abdullswamad went on to defend the president saying he has to know which road leads where and the benefits it brings to area residents.
He advised President Ruto not to be swayed by critics who would still be on his case if he got the name of certain roads wrong.

A day ago, President Ruto told off critics saying his familiarity with the roads in Northern Kenya is no different from his knowledge of roads in Central, Western, or other parts of the country.
The head of state said his knowledge of the country’s infrastructure is integral to his leadership and responsibility.
“This is my job; this is the job I applied for. To think about the country, to know what to do, where, and to make sure that no part of Kenya is left behind,” said Ruto.
During his recent tour of Northern Kenya, Ruto’s announcement of the road expansion project elicited mixed reactions from netizens on social media.
Kenyans flooded social media with memes and video challenges, particularly after Ruto named various stops along the stretch of the 750 km road set for construction.
