A Kilifi driver was on Thursday charged with stealing medical supplies from the Kilifi County Government.
Mohamed Gired Juma who was presented before Kilifi law courts was accused of stealing medical supplies on varying dates in January 2025.2.13
“Today, Mohamed Gired Juma was presented before the Kilifi Law Courts to face charges of theft by a servant, as stipulated in Section 268(1) in conjunction with Section 281 of the Penal Code,” said a statement from the Kilifi County Government.
Juma and his accomplice (still at large) are accused of stealing three rolls of plain gauze, two cartons of disposable gloves, and two pieces of bin gauge, while serving as the driver for county ambulance 03CG001A, which were under his possession due to his employment status.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Ivy Wasike, Juma denied the charges and was granted bail at sh.30,000 or a surety bond of sh.100,000.
The trial is scheduled for May 14th, 2025.
“This legal matter showcases the collective efforts being made to combat the pilferage of medical resources in Kilifi County,” read the statement from the county.
