Former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu has strongly criticized leaders who are opposing the national livestock vaccination campaign, describing them as ignorant.
“I cannot understand why some leaders are against the national vaccination drive. These leaders fail to recognize the importance of this exercise,” Mruttu said.
He noted that some Kenyans, particularly on TikTok, have been criticizing the government’s initiative. However, he emphasized that vaccination programs are not a new concept but have been in place for generations.
“The exercise is not a foreign idea; it has been carried out since time immemorial,” he stated.
Mruttu further highlighted that the campaign is crucial in protecting livestock farmers from losses caused by livestock diseases.
Additionally, he urged Kenyans to embrace the new Social Health Insurance (SHA), describing it as essential for providing comprehensive health coverage.
“I want to encourage all Kenyans, regardless of their political affiliations, to embrace this health insurance,” Mruttu said.
However, he clarified that participation in the program remains voluntary.
