Judiciary to hold open day for public

The Judiciary on Friday will conduct an open day countrywide.

Kenyans from all walks of life will get sensitization on matters of law from the judicial staff and advocates.

In Mombasa, the open day will be held at the Mombasa law courts precincts from 9 am.

Court of Appeal Judge Hon. Dr K. I. Laibuta said citizens will get free legal advice.

“We will start at 9 am at the law courts. All are invited to get to learn more about how the judiciary works,” said Laibuta.

Meanwhile, Laibuta decried the low funding for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which he said could help declog the courts.

Speaking during an interview at Baraka FM, he noted that ADR has solved about 90 percent of cases to the satisfaction of both parties.

“If ADR can be funded fully, we will be able to dispense justice in our courts in time. Currently, we are grappling with a shortage of judges in our courts,” he added.
