The government has been urged to enforce the Cyber Crimes Act in a bid to tame online violence.
Mombasa County human rights activists led by Evans Momanyi said cases are on the increase due to a lack of enforcement.
“The authorities should come out. We have the Cyber Crimes Act which is in force, Momanyi noted.
He further urged the relevant authorities including the DCI to allocate a special kitty to address the challenge at the grassroots level.
“The DCI, the government should set aside a kitty to look into this challenge at the grassroots,’’ he stated.
The activist also called on Governors to liaise with the national government to address the challenge.
Momanyi further pointed out that the vice has been on the rise recently.
“There is a surge of online abuse and this has affected Kenyans from the lowest cadres,” he stated.
