Mombasa Lands County Executive Committee Member, Mohamed Hussein Amadoh has called on the youth to take their voting rights seriously.
Speaking to the youth at Mama Ngina Drive on Saturday morning, Amadoh emphasized that participation in elections is crucial for ensuring that young leaders shape the community’s future.
“Youth, let us register as voters. Exercising is important, discipline is important, but most important of all is that we register as voters and make our votes count in the next elections,” said CEC Amadoh.
His sentiments were echoed by County Assembly Speaker Aharub Khatri, Mombasa Businessman Abu Joho, Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki and other Mombasa leaders.
According to Khatri, proper documentation not only enables access to government services but also strengthens youth influence in political decision-making.
“Your vote is your voice. If you are not registered, others will decide for you,” he told the gathering.
Abu Joho called on the youth to actively participate in voter registration, stressing that their collective voice is crucial for shaping local leadership.
“Our weapon is our vote and our dignity. You young people are online 24/7, talking nonstop, but on voting day, you sleep or are distracted, that is foolishness,” said Abu Joho.
He emphasized that the push for voter registration is about organization and empowerment, not conflict. He encouraged residents to bring their relatives, friends, and neighbors into the process, saying that numbers and unity will ensure the Coast region’s concerns are addressed at the political level.
Their message come amid ongoing efforts to increase civic engagement ahead of the upcoming elections.
Beyond politics, Amadoh encouraged the youth to maintain physical fitness and personal discipline, highlighting these traits as essential for personal growth and success. He concluded his message with affection and blessings, reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment and development.
