Bandari FC part ways with Coach Borji after one win in eight matches

Bandari Football Club has sacked head coach Mohamed Borji just two months after hiring him, following a poor run of results that has left the coastal side struggling in the Kenya Premier League.

Borji, who was appointed at the start of the 2025 season, oversaw eight matches in charge, winning only one, drawing five and losing two. His final blow came on Sunday when Bandari suffered a 1-0 defeat to APS Bomet in Kericho.

The club announced his dismissal on Thursday, confirming that assistant coach Tarik Bendamou had also been released. The changes come a day before Bandari face Gor Mahia on Friday. Gor sit second on the Premier League table with 19 points, one behind leaders Kenya Police, both teams having played 10 matches.

Bandari are currently 14th on the log with 12 points from 11 matches, having managed only two wins, six draws and three losses this season.

According to an internal communication from the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), the club’s parent body, the shake-up comes just 48 hours after KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto dissolved the club’s Board of Trustees as part of wider restructuring efforts. The memo also placed the stewardship of the club under Tony Kibwana, the acting Chief Executive Officer.

Bandari said new technical arrangements will be announced in the coming days. For now, assistant coach Razak Siwa will take charge of the team ahead of the crucial Gor Mahia fixture.
