Court Hands Life Sentence to Likoni Man for Defiling Six-Year-Old Girl

Court Mallet.

A Mombasa court sentenced Paul Kilonzo Muthami, a Likoni resident, to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of defiling a six-year-old girl.

The court convicted Muthami of defilement under Section 8(1), as read with Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act, No. 3 of 2006. He also faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child under Section 11(1) of the same law.

Prosecution Counsel Purity Musembi proved that on November 6, 2022, Muthami lured the child into his house in Kiwerera, Likoni Sub-County, under the guise of watching television before assaulting her.

The prosecution lined up five witnesses whose corroborated testimonies linked Muthami directly to the crime. In his ruling, Resident Magistrate Green Odera declared that the evidence left no room for doubt.

“The testimonies of the prosecution witnesses were consistent and credible. The accused took advantage of the victim’s innocence and violated her in the most inhumane manner,” ruled Hon. Odera.

After the incident the child confided in her mother, identifying Muthami popularly known as “Baba Ibrah” as the perpetrator. Family members and residents apprehended him and handed him to officers at Likoni Police Station, where a medical report confirmed the assault.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions hailed the ruling and pledged continued action to protect children and deliver justice for survivors of sexual violence.
