Mombasa will host the International Trade & Logistics Summit 2025 (ITLS 2025) on October 27–28, marking the city’s first global summit dedicated to logistics and trade innovation.

The event is convened by the Mombasa County Government, Kenya Ports Authority, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), and the Kenya International Freight and Warehousing Association (KIFWA), with participation from international logistics firms, maritime agencies, and technology providers.

Speaking during the launch of the summit, Mombasa County Governor Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir said logistics remains the backbone of Mombasa’s economy, making the summit a key driver for growth.

“The economy of Mombasa is largely powered by logistics. Through ITLS 2025, we aim to grow this sector, create more youth employment, and ensure the port directly benefits our people. This biennial summit will position Mombasa as a true investment destination,” he said.

KIFWA Mombasa Chairman and ITLS Co-Chair Rajab Hamis stressed the importance of regional collaboration.

“ITLS 2025 will connect East African businesses with global markets, attract investors, and promote new technologies in shipping and freight management. It will establish Mombasa as a competitive global logistics hub,” he noted.

Also at the launch was KNCCI Mombasa Chairman and Co-Chair Abud Jamal who described the summit as a platform for transformation.

“This summit is more than a conference, it is a platform for genuine business transformation. We expect new investments, stronger partnerships, and digital growth across logistics and supply chain management,” he said.

Organizing Committee member Feisal Laskar pointed to the role of technology in shaping the summit’s agenda. He said the summit will preempt the region’s preparedness when it came to an AI take over.

“Registration is now open through our online portal. This summit will showcase how innovations like AI and drones are reshaping global supply chains. Beyond exhibitions, there will be peer-to-peer learning, networking, and knowledge sharing to help our region prepare for disruptions and opportunities in logistics,” he explained.

Meanwhile, KIFWA National Secretary and Mombasa Vice Chair Musa Mbira confirmed broad international participation.

“Delegations from Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa will attend, with Dubai showcasing drone technology. Within the region, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan have confirmed attendance, while we are engaging Rwanda and Burundi. This will truly be a global event,” he said.

The two-day program will feature sessions on AI-driven logistics, green ports, cross-border partnerships, and sustainable maritime practices. Organizers expect ITLS 2025 to spark investment deals, shape government policy, and showcase Mombasa as East Africa’s logistics hub.

Registration for delegates, sponsors, and exhibitors is open on the official ITLS 2025 portal.
