Ganze ODM Chair urges Kilifi County to rethink youth empowerment strategy

Ganze Sub-county Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman George Fondo is now appealing to the Kilifi County Government to review its youth empowerment strategies.

Fondo said the move is necessary to tackle the growing challenge of unemployment across the county.

He emphasized that it is high time the county government prioritized creating business opportunities for young people.

Fondo also lamented what he termed a lack of political goodwill within the current leadership structure.

“The youth are still struggling to find their place in the leadership matrix, but it seems there is no goodwill from the status quo,” he said.

He further noted that the current leadership has failed to adequately address the challenges facing the youth in political and leadership spaces.

Fondo warned that the ongoing political developments in Kilifi should not catch any political player by surprise. Instead, he said, they should serve as a wake-up call to plan, or re-plan, in readiness for the 2027 general election.

The Ganze ODM chairman revealed that the party is set to begin internal conversations about its 2027 election preparations immediately after the National Governing Council (NGC) meeting scheduled for October.

Meanwhile, a recent reorganization within the Kilifi County Government has drawn mixed reactions. While some residents perceive it as a political strategy ahead of the 2027 polls, others view it as a routine move aimed at broadening inclusivity in Governor Gideon Mung’aro’s leadership.
