Malindi Member of Parliament Amina Mnyazi has urged her constituents to ignore demonstrations and instead focus on economic development.
Speaking during the handing over of four renovated classrooms at Malindi Central Primary School, Mnyazi stated that the ongoing protests are not beneficial for the people of Malindi, who rely heavily on the tourism sector.
“I have no problem with demonstrations because I used to demonstrate myself with a sufuria on my head, but what we are seeing in Nairobi now is not encouraging for our tourism sector. Let’s maintain peace,” Amina said.
The Member of Parliament added that it is very difficult to remove the current leadership outside of elections, and the only way to effect change is through the ballot.
“You will choose the leader you want in 2027 and vote out those you think are unfit—including me, if you think so. But for now, let’s focus on developing this sub-county,” the MP said.
Mnyazi handed over three newly constructed classrooms at HGM Primary School and four renovated classrooms at Malindi Central Comprehensive School.
She also announced plans to establish a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Malindi as part of efforts to strengthen the area’s educational infrastructure.
