Senate hosts Raila Odinga for consultative talks on devolution

The Senate of Kenya this morning hosted former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga at Parliament Buildings for a high-level consultative meeting centered on the state and future of devolution in the country.

The discussions highlighted the critical oversight role of the Senate in safeguarding and strengthening the devolved system of governance. Senators and Odinga exchanged views on the persistent challenges facing county governments and the need for deliberate efforts to ensure that devolution delivers meaningful development to all Kenyans, especially at the grassroots level.

“As an institution, we are extremely proud of Hon. Odinga’s unwavering commitment to devolution. His insights and leadership continue to inspire and shape the national conversation on the future of governance in Kenya,” said Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

The Senate reiterated its commitment to protecting the spirit of devolution and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to enhance service delivery and equity across all counties.
