Dutch wing-back Jeremie Frimpong is set to complete his medical at Liverpool on Monday ahead of signing a five-year contract with the Premier League champions.
The 24-year-old traveled to England on Sunday to finalize the details of his move after Liverpool agreed to trigger his €35 million release clause with Bayer Leverkusen.
Frimpong’s arrival comes as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to leave the club when his contract expires on June 30. The England international is reportedly close to sealing a move to Real Madrid.
Frimpong played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic double-winning campaign last season under manager Xabi Alonso, helping the club secure both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.
Recognized as one of Europe’s top right-backs, Frimpong is expected to fill the void left by Alexander-Arnold and bring pace, creativity, and defensive solidity to the right flank.
Liverpool’s new head coach, Arne Slot, confirmed the club’s intention to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season. “We will add a few players to make the team more competitive next season,” he said.
