Coast youth urged to embrace opportunities and take initiative

Human rights defenders in the Coast region are calling on young people to take advantage of any opportunities available to them in a bid to reduce unemployment and promote self-reliance.

Pwani Youth Network Executive Director Alfred Sigo encouraged youth to remain open-minded and proactive in pursuing both employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

“I urge young people to try out any opportunity that comes their way. If you’re thinking of starting a business, reach out to us—we’re here to support you,” said Sigo.

He noted that the organization is actively working with the county government and other stakeholders to identify and share potential opportunities for youth empowerment.

“Our main goal is to reduce the rate of unemployment by creating pathways for young people to become economically active,” he said.

Sigo also emphasized the importance of responsibility and going the extra mile.

“To stand out, you must be willing to do things differently. Change is a collective responsibility—it starts with individual effort,” he added.
