The County Government of Taita Taveta has officially commissioned the extension of the Josa-Modambogho Water Project, bringing renewed hope to residents of Landi in Mwatate Sub-county.
Governor Andrew Mwadime said the extension, funded through the County Climate Fund (CCF) at a cost of KES 2.5 million, is part of the county’s broader efforts to improve rural water access under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program.
The newly commissioned extension targets an additional 500 households, significantly improving access to clean and safe water in an area previously plagued by acute shortages.
“This extension is a direct response to the harsh impacts of climate change that have made water access increasingly difficult,” Governor Mwadime said. “It’s a major relief to grassroots communities that have long struggled to access this basic resource.”
He added that the project will drastically cut down the distance and time residents spend fetching water, improving the quality of life and boosting resilience against climate-induced water stress.
