Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the private sector to address the county’s high unemployment rate.
Governor Mwadime attributed the situation to the absence of proper systems designed to create and support job opportunities.
“My government will focus on finding practical solutions to the challenge of unemployment,” he said.
He further cited the lack of industries in the county as a major contributor to the growing job crisis.
At the same time, Governor Mwadime announced that the county government has initiated steps to address widespread poverty in the region.
In collaboration with the County Assembly, the administration is currently formulating a bill aimed at providing lasting solutions.
“The Taita Taveta County Poverty Alleviation, Empowerment and Enterprise Development Fund Bill, 2025 seeks to tackle poverty and unemployment in our noble county,” he explained.
Mwadime added that, if passed, the bill will prioritize support for youth, women, and people living with disabilities.
