Pope Francis will be buried on Saturday, 26th April, 2025.
The Vatican, on Tuesday, confirmed that Pope Francis’ funeral mass will be held on Friday in St. Peter’s Square at 10:00 am, presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the Dean of the College of Cardinals.
The mass will be concelebrated by Patriarchs, Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, and priests from across the globe.
His body will lie in state in St. Peter’s Basilica from Tuesday, April 22nd, until his funeral on Saturday morning to allow pilgrims to pay their respects.

The late Pope’s body will then be taken into St. Peter’s Basilica and then to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for entombment.
Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 in Vatican City.
Ordained as a priest in 1969, Bergoglio rose through the ranks of the Catholic Church, serving as Jesuit provincial superior in Argentina and later as Archbishop of Buenos Aires.
In 2013, he made history by becoming the first pope from the Americas and the first Jesuit to hold the position.
