Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has emphasized the importance of treating every remaining match like a cup final as the club battles to secure a Champions League spot.
Speaking ahead of their Premier League clash with Aston Villa, the Spanish tactician called on City fans to rally behind the team in their final five matches.
“After Aston Villa, the game against Wolves will be a final, then Southampton, because every game counts,” said Guardiola.
City currently sits fourth in the league standings but faces stiff competition in the race for Champions League qualification. Just two points separate five teams between third and seventh place.
Earlier this month, Guardiola warned that missing out on Champions League football could complicate the club’s plans to secure top summer transfer targets.
Manchester City take on Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium tonight at 10 PM. Unai Emery’s side comes into the match in top form, having won their last five games.
