Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana is urging the county government to improve early childhood education across the region.
Mungatana said strengthening the sector will ensure young learners receive the proper foundation for their education.
“Early childhood education is still facing a lot of challenges in this county,” the senator said.
He noted that the challenges in early childhood education are part of the wider issues affecting the county’s education sector.
He called on the county government to take urgent action to address the problem.
“The governor had promised the Senate to address this challenge. He committed to improving the standards of education in Tana River,” Mungatana added.
Tana River County has a total of 322 public Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres. Out of these, 167 are stand-alone ECD centres, while 155 are integrated within primary schools.
