NAIROBI: Police in Kasarani have arrested two men behind a string of online cons that left victims out of cash, and certainly not relaxed.
The suspects, Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, masqueraded as glamorous women offering ‘professional massage services’ online. But instead of soothing oils and peaceful spa vibes, clients were met with something far more sinister.
“One such victim, perhaps dreaming of scented oils and spa music, reported the ordeal to the Kasarani Police Station. Enticed by what seemed to be two attractive women offering top-tier massage sessions, he made his way to their supposed spa residence along Lumumba Drive, Kasarani,” wrote the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on their social media pages.
Shortly after the session began, the supposed masseuses turned the tables—pulling out knives and revealing their true identities. The victim was forced to transfer sh.280,000 via mobile money before being stripped of his valuables and kicked out.
“Investigations were initiated, and through forensic leads, the two were arrested while having a good time at a chilling spot in Kamiti prison area, probably using the stolen cash,” said the DCI.
Authorities are urging the public to stay cautious when booking services online
