Bodaboda operators in Kwale County have been urged to work closely with security agencies to help curb rising criminal activities in the region.

Kevin Mubadi, former chairman of the Kwale Bodaboda Association, called on riders to report individuals—particularly youth—who use motorcycles to harass residents with machetes. He emphasized the importance of community support in identifying and apprehending such offenders.

Speaking during the election of a new chairman for the Kwale County Bodaboda Association, Mubadi pledged to support the incoming leadership in bringing positive change to the sector.

“Our leaders should not associate themselves with criminal gangs. Instead, they should lead efforts in reporting suspected gang members to the relevant authorities,” he said.

The newly elected chairman, Mahmoud Rajab, promised to serve bodaboda members with fairness and transparency.

“Bodaboda members should have high expectations of us—we will fulfill our duties with utmost honesty,” he assured.

Meanwhile, Juma Gatiwi, a bodaboda operator, urged the government to invest in the sector.

“The government should support bodaboda saccos. Such funding would provide critical assistance during emergencies,” he said.
