Thief lynched in Mombasa’s VOK area

A suspected thief was on Thursday morning lynched by residents in VOK estate, Mombasa County after allegedly breaking into a house and stabbing the owner.

The thief is said to be part of a gang of four that killed a dog before breaking into a house and stabbing the owner with a knife, leaving her injured.

The injured lady raised alarm after the two thugs broke into her bedroom.

According to the victim’s sister, the thugs gained entry to the house through the victim’s bedroom window which had been left open due to the heat.

“They had stolen from several other houses before going to my sister’s house. They took phones from the children’s room, the tv, and other home appliances. My sister woke up while they were trying to leave the house through the same bedroom window they had used to climb in and raised the alarm,” said the victim’s sister.

The thieves managed to escape after a Masaai guard in the neighborhood responded to the woman’s distress call.

The guard further raised the alarm, prompting residents to emerge from their homes in drove.

Three thieves escaped leaving behind their colleague who was cornered by the residents.

“He ran towards brookside area but was cut off and cornered by residents who were coming from all sides. He was in possession of eight mobile phones at the time of his capture, and residents managed to get the names of all of his accomplices before lynching him,” explained the victim’s sister.
