Kwale health workers want promotion and allowances

Kwale County health workers now want the County government to promote and give them allowances.

Speaking during a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday, the workers said some of them have been working for more than six years without any promotion.

According to one of the health workers, Ben Wambui, there was discrimination in promoting health workers in Kwale.

“We are requesting fairness as they go through the process of promotion, because a one-year-old worker gets promoted while a six-year workers has been in the same job group for long,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Florence Nthenya, another health worker.

“There is no motivation when others are promoted while others are not, and that leads to poor service delivery,” said Florence Nthenya.

The workers also want the county government to recognize all other health workers, including mortuary attendants, public health officers, drivers, and many others.
