Murkomen declares Monday a public holiday to mark Eid ul-Fitr

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared Monday, 31st March 2025, a public holiday.

In a gazette notice dated 28th March 2025, the Interior CS declared Monday next week a public holiday to mark Eid ul-Fitr.

“IT IS notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Monday, the 31st March, 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul Fitr,” read the gazette notice.

Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadhan in Kenya kicked off at the beginning of March, and after 30 days of fasting, prayer, and reflection Muslim faithful in the country will join others around the world in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.
