Kenyan youth are set to benefit from sports academies that will be established in all constituencies across the country.

Speaking on Wednesday in Bungoma, Salim Mvurya, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, announced that the ministry plans to construct 37 talent academies in the first phase of the project.

Mvurya stated that these centers aim to nurture and enhance the talents of young Kenyans.

“One of the academies has already been completed in Nalondo, and we are looking forward to finalizing the first phase of the 37 academies,” Mvurya said.

He emphasized the importance of investing in young people, noting that they are the country’s most valuable resource.

Additionally, Mvurya encouraged the youth to register and apply for grants from the Youth Fund. He acknowledged that young people previously faced challenges when applying for grants but assured them that all requirements and conditions have now been streamlined.

“We have addressed all the challenges related to the Youth Fund. It is now up to the youth to meet the requirements, and the funds will be disbursed to them,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka urged young people to form groups, explaining that organized groups have a better chance of securing grants and support from the government.

“It’s easier to support a group than an individual. I urge youths to form groups for easier access to government programs,” Lusaka said.
