The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) in Kwale County has urged individuals with disabilities (PWDs) to register with the council to access essential services.

NCPWD Kwale County Coordinator, Juliet Ruwa, emphasized that registration would also aid in future planning and service delivery.

“The identification card is crucial for all PWDs, as it grants access to our services,” Ruwa stated.

She also highlighted that Kwale County has a notably high number of people with albinism compared to other counties in the region, particularly in Kinango and Lunga Lunga areas.

“Most of those affected are children under the age of 16,” she noted.

Ruwa further stated that the council plans to conduct research to understand the rising prevalence of albinism in the county.
