A total of 5,000 vulnerable families in the Coast and Central regions are set to benefit from a food distribution program sponsored by Bamburi Cement.
Speaking to the media, Martin Kariuki, Commercial Director of Bamburi Cement, stated that the initiative aims to improve the daily lives of struggling families amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
“We recognize that many families are finding it difficult to put food on the table due to the economic downturn. This program is designed to provide much-needed relief,” said Kariuki.
He noted that the company is targeting 2,000 families in the Coast region, with a focus on Kwale, Kilifi, and Mombasa counties, as well as select areas in Machakos and Nairobi.
“No family in need will be left behind,” he assured, adding that Bamburi Cement will collaborate with local leaders to identify the most vulnerable households.
To ensure effective distribution, village elders will assist in delivering food packages door-to-door.
Kariuki also urged well-wishers to contribute to the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collective action in supporting families facing food insecurity.
“Let’s come together to help these families. Many struggle to get meals every day, not just during Ramadan, but throughout the year,” he said.
Sheikh Zuberi Nuur, a member of the Council of Elders from Old Town, praised the program, stating that it would provide essential support, particularly during the fasting period.
“This initiative will make a significant impact on many families. I encourage the community to embrace and support it for the benefit of the most vulnerable,” he said.
