Kilifi residents decry poor service delivery by elected leaders

A section of Kilifi County residents has expressed dissatisfaction with their elected leaders’ poor service delivery.

Speaking at various functions, local leaders accused some elected officials of neglecting their concerns.

George Fondo, a resident of Sokoke Ward in Ganze Sub-County, criticized local leaders, including area MCA Thaura Mweni, for failing to address the challenges facing Sokoke residents. Fondo, also vying for the Sokoke Ward representative seat, accused the incumbent of shifting blame to top county leadership instead of taking responsibility for his shortcomings.

“They always blame others for their failures. You cannot always complain about top leadership,” he stated.

Fondo also urged Kilifi County Assembly Speaker Teddy Mwambire to collaborate with the county administration to foster development.

Meanwhile, Magarini parliamentary aspirant Furaha Chengo, speaking at a separate event on Saturday, criticized the county government for failing to address key issues affecting residents.

He highlighted the struggling health sector and persistent water shortages as urgent matters that require immediate intervention.

“Magarini Constituency is one of the worst-affected areas. Water and healthcare remain major challenges here,” he noted.

Chengo further urged residents to register as voters to elect competent leaders in the upcoming elections.

He also called for peace ahead of the Magarini by-election.

“I ask you to pray for me, and most importantly, maintain peace. This race is between Hary Kombe and me—the rest are not in contention,” he asserted.

The Magarini by-election is scheduled for July this year.
