Killers of former Kilifi Deputy Governor Kenneth Kamto have been jailed for 70 years.
Julius Gitonga was jailed for 40 years, while Joseph Mukabana was sentenced to 30 years in jail after being found guilty of murder by a Mombasa court.
Kamto who was the first Deputy Governor of Kilifi, was murdered in his Nyali home in Mombasa County on 12th December 2018.
The two were found guilty of robbery with violence and murder.
On that day, armed with a pistol and metal bars, the two men scaled the perimeter wall to gain entry into Kamto’s compound.
“Once inside, they ransacked the house and stole three mobile phones and sh.9,000. Amid this chaos, Kamto was fatally shot before the robbers fled the scene,” evidence produced in court showed.
The prosecution presented 24 witnesses to testify against the two.
According to a statement shared on DCI social media pages, Gitonga received a harsher sentence for pulling the trigger that ended Kamto’s life.
