Taita Taveta County Senator Jones Mwaruma is seeking accountability on how funds meant for development in constituencies in the county were spent.
Mwaruma is seeking a statement from the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget regarding the utilization of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) allocation for constituencies in Taita Taveta County.
Speaking in the senate, Mwaruma asked the committee to provide the annual NG-CDF allocation for Voi, Mwatate, Wundanyi, and Taveta constituencies from the financial year 2017/28 to the 2024/25 financial year.
“Table lists of all projects in the four constituencies that were funded by the NG-CDF allocations for the specified financial years indicating the commencement and completion dates for each of the projects and the respective project costs,” said Mwaruma.
Mwaruma went further to ask for a list of companies that submitted bids for each project undertaken during the period specifying those that won the tender.
He closed his statement by asking the committee to provide a list of companies that were awarded tenders under the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) program.
