Kilifi County to help residents get IDs and birth certificates

Kilifi county government has put in place measures to help residents without national identification documents get them to ease the process of registering for the new health insurance fund SHA.

Speaking at the opening of a radiology unit at the Kilifi County hospital on Thursday, County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Peter Mwarogo said they have formed an administration committee chaired by himself and the county commissioner.

Mwarogo said they have involved the immigration department to help residents get national ID’s and birth certificates.

Mwarogo said some residents have not registered with SHA because of lack of those crucial documents.

“We shall cooperate with MCA’s, come to the wards, organize camps and mobilise people to register them to get ID’s and birth certificates so they can register with SHA,” said Mwarogo.

The health CEC who urged residents to register with SHA said the target is to register at least 90% of Kilifi residents.

However, he raised concern over men registering for SHA and not including their spouses under their cover.

He urged men to include their wives and young children under their cover so they can benefit too.
