Students in Kwale County have been encouraged to embrace science-related subjects, including engineering, to enhance their career prospects.

The appeal was made by the Deputy Chairman of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya, Catherine Karue, who urged students to work hard in their studies to improve their chances of securing employment opportunities.

“I encourage students to focus on their academics. Hard work will open doors to various job opportunities,” Karue said while speaking in Kwale County on Wednesday.

She also advised students pursuing engineering courses to put in extra effort to increase their chances of employment.

Hassan Mwandoro, a member of the institute, echoed her sentiments, challenging young people to work diligently, especially in their studies.

“I urge all students, including those who have just completed primary school, to consider engineering subjects,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Heri Makame, an engineering student, expressed gratitude to the institute for providing engineering equipment, which he said would enhance their learning experience.

“This is a great benefit for us as students. It will improve our ability to study engineering effectively,” Makame noted.

Some of the engineering courses available include civil, electrical, and aeronautical engineering, among others.
