National football team Harambee Stars have a chance to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup under new coach Bennie McCarthy.
This is according to Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya.
“I am pleased to welcome the newly appointed Harambee Stars Head Coach Benni McCarthy and Goalkeeper Coach Jose Moineeb, following a rigorous and seamless selection process by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF),” said CS Mvurya.

McCarthy was officially unveiled as the new Harambee Stars Coach on Monday.
Mvurya said the team had a chance to qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup under the new management.
“I am confident that under McCarthy’s leadership, alongside Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Muhammed, the team will be transformed and reach its full potential to win the African Nations Championship (CHAN), compete strongly in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON),” said the CS.
